A former Treasure Coast Sheriff is now working in the Trump administration.
St. Lucie County's Keith Pearson has announced his role as Senior Counselor to State and Local Law Enforcement at the Department of Homeland Security.
Pearson, who was appointed as sheriff by Governor Ron DeSantis after Sheriff Ken Mascara retired, ran for election last year but lost to former Port St. Lucie Police Chief Richard Del Toro.
Pearson on Facebook says he is excited to have joined President Trump's team and that "together we will make a significant impact in the safety and prosperity for all Americans."
He emphasizes the importance of Trump's America First priorities and expressed enthusiasm about working under yet-to-be-confirmed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's leadership.
Noem this week advanced out of committee in the Senate. She could be confirmed over the weekend.
