An exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the director of the upcoming Venom 2 will be none other than geek legend, Andy Serkis! While he doesn't have many directorial credits on his resume, he does understand character. And if you know Serkis's work, you know that creatures and larger than life performances are his specialty. Serkis has worked in the realms of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and The Planet of the Apes! He's THE pioneer for performance-capture, so his take on on the iconic Spider-Man villain should be spectacular.
The first Venom film grossed $856 million at the box office, despite the fairly mixed reaction. It's curious that they'd change directors after that success, but maybe they want cash AND critical success.
