Pauly's Picks Review: Tuscan Prime

I had the opportunity to visit Tuscan Prime with my wife over the weekend and if you are a fan of Italian Chop Houses, you need to go as soon as you're done reading this! Located at 401 E. Las Olas Blvd, it opened a couple of months ago and the response has been very positive.

Instead of ordering off the menu, the Chef put together a tasting menu for us paired with wines of his choosing. We started off with an Octopus dish that was Seared with Fresh Herbs, Tricolor Potatoes and Olives. It was cooked perfectly. It was joined by a Baked Eggplant that may be the best eggplant dish I've ever had! It was stuffed with Smoked Mozzarella and Ricotta on top of Tomato Sauce with Garlic Crostini's…just epic! If you're a vegetarian, order this EVERY TIME.

We then had a Bucatini with San Marzano Tomato, Pancetta, Pecorino and Onions. The pasta is homemade and was cooked perfectly. The difference between freshly made pasta and boxed is the difference between Metallica and Billy Joel. (Not that Billy Joel is boxed pasta)

Of course, since it's an Italian Chophouse, a beef dish was bound to arrive at the table and it certainly did with the Prime New York Strip. It had a Brunello Reduction, Bearnaise, Creamy Horseradish and a vegetable. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare and the Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano was the ideal accompaniment. Finally, out came the Tiramisu and Profitroles paired with Passito Ben Rye.

Now, I'm full…

It was an amazing meal with an awesome ambience right in the middle of downtown. I can’t recommend it enough. Check out the menu here and hope you enjoy Tuscan Prime!

PS: They are taking part in Crave Fort Lauderdale as well!
