A woman named Chella Phillips has proven to be a light in a dark time for the Bahamas. During the chaos of Hurricane Dorian, she took it upon herself to be a hero to those in need. Well, the beings in need were our animal friends. Chella saved almost a 100 dogs (97 dogs, to be exact).
Chella described her experience caring for the dogs on her Facebook page:
"We have barricaded the refuge and nobody is outside, the music is playing in all directions of the house and the AC is blowing for them. I managed to bring some less fortunate ones and I really appreciate some of you donating for crates...I really needed it for the scared ones and the sick ones."
Philips told NBC that even though the dogs were well behaved, she spent most of the time cleaning nonstop.
