Well...here we are, people. The twilight of mankind's run on this planet. It's been nice knowing and entertaining all of you. A new video from robotics engineering company Boston Dynamics has the internet freaking out! Their Atlas robot can now perform feats of gymnastics. That's right, people. It flips, does somersaults, jumps, and more. Are you concerned? You probably should be.
The Atlas robot has done great feats in the past. Recovering from being pushed, navigating uneven terrain, and moving through a parkour course, but now we've broken new ground.
Engadget reported on the story and got this quote from Boston Dynamics:
"First, an optimization algorithm transforms high-level descriptions of each maneuver into dynamically-feasible reference motions," says Boston Dynamics. "Then Atlas tracks the motions using a model predictive controller that smoothly blends from one maneuver to the next."
