Mall Santas are having their livelihoods threatened, people. The rise of Video Chat Santas is causing quite a stir, because families really prefer this digital alternative. A new story by the New York Post has described this new struggle, saying that families prefer this new method to avoid the classic lines (that we all know can be a pain).
The article says that "websites such as Welcome Santa and Talk to Santa are offering families the opportunity to talk to Mr. Claus from the comfort of their own homes. Both companies price a live call with Mr. Claus at $29. Also, aging and physical limitations for older performers comes into consideration. But who knows? This could put a dent in the ability for Mall Santas to make a living. But as the article says, “The young-gun Santas who get the technology are the wave of the future."
