If you've been listening to the Paul Castronovo Show over the last few weeks, you've no doubt heard that I recently received my Medical Marijuana Card from the State of Florida. I've been asked many questions about what the process is like within the dispensaries, so figured I'd give you my experiences.
I go to Trulieve in Fort Lauderdale, strictly because it’s the most convenient for me. The most surprising aspect of a Trulieve is that when you walk in, you're in a waiting room with a receptionist. You don’t see any product anywhere…it can cause you to do a double take your first time, it did for me. You provide your ID to the receptionist, they verify that you are on the registry, and you have a seat. (They maintain possession of your ID during this time)
After a few minutes a double door at one end of the waiting room opens and someone holding a clipboard calls your name.
Now you are entering the 'retail' portion of the store. Now you can see the product and displays. I'll be honest, its rather surreal. You are escorted to a 'station' where you are introduced to your personal attendant. These folks are incredibly friendly and extremely well-versed in the product they are selling.
After 'shopping' you pay in cash and then they give you back your ID. Everything is packaged in a white paper bag with the Trulieve logo and you're on your way. The entire process from entry to exit is very methodical and structured, as I guess it has to be due to state regulations.
