It’s that day. Every year college football fans monitor social media and team boards on the first Wednesday in February to find out how many top high school players decided not to go to their favorite school. For the Miami Hurricanes, most fans were not overly optimistic. This is a program that lost to the local commuter school a mere 90 days ago. Worst loss in program history…so, why would any top player worth his salt choose to come to Coral Gables over Florida or FSU?
I’m just kidding. The reason is Manny Diaz. Say what you will about his ‘in-game’ coaching ability or that fact that this team lost every game following bye weeks; the dude is a politician’s son, and he talks like one. For the second year in a row, Manny Diaz has owned the offseason, despite not being able to own the in-season. He has sold this program and his vision of it to a boatload of quality recruits for the second year in a row.
Now, if he can just figure out how to win games following bye weeks, we might have something to get giddy over!
