On October 6th, you could own one of the most complete T-Rex skeletons ever discovered.

STAN the T. rex, named after the paleontologist who first discovered his bones, spent the last 20 years at the Black Hills Institute in South Dakota being extensively studied by scientists from around the globe. Now he's headed for the auction block in New York and is expected to sell for between $6 million and $8 million.

The skeleton — being put up for sale by the Black Hills Institute in South Dakota — will remain on display through October 21st at Christie’s Rockefeller Center. The last T. rex fossil to come up for auction was in 1997, when “Sue,” also found in South Dakota, sold for $8.36 million. A group that included McDonald’s and Walt Disney World Resort purchased the fossil and donated it to the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago.

Christie's assured potential buyers that Stan “is being offered with no reserve. So absolutely everyone has a shot at him.”
