Awkward! A weatherman on the UK’s BBC Breakfast was left embarrassed after confessing he didn’t like pop star Rick Astley – while Astley himself was listening in.
Host Charlie Stayt asked weatherman Matt Taylor if he was a Rick Astley fan, and the meteorologist replied, “Erm, not a massive one.” At that point Stayt let Taylor know that Rick Astley was their next guest...and he heard every word.
Asked again, Taylor quickly changed his tune. “Love Rick Astley. The best. Grew up with him.”
Luckily, rather than being upset, Rick found the situation hilarious. The cameras cut to Rick at home on a video call, struggling to hold back his laughter.
Taylor acknowledged the gaffe later on Twitter, writing, “Note to self … Charlie isn’t always trying to make me do something silly, like sing, on air (hence my response) AND MORE IMPORTANTLY Make sure you check who is on the programme after you.”
Astley then let him know, “All is forgiven.”
