If you have an iPhone or iPad, Apple says you need to update the operating systems to fix security bugs that may have already been exploited by hackers.
One problem, reported by an anonymous researcher, allowed malicious applications to elevate privileges. Another security issue was reported in WebKit, an open source browser engine used by Safari and iOS browsers. In the description notes, Apple said this flaw meant “a remote attacker may be able to cause arbitrary code execution.”
Apple made the software upgrades available Tuesday, adding:
For our customers' protection, Apple doesn't disclose, discuss, or confirm security issues until an investigation has occurred and patches or releases are available.
