Miami Beach Tells Spring Breakers: Vacation Responsibly or Be Arrested

The last time we spoke with Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber he was already fed up with tourists in the area, and that was before the spring break crowd arrived! Interim City Manager Raul Aguila agrees, saying “Miami Beach is not going to tolerate anarchy for spring break 2021.”

Using geo-targeting on their social media campaign "The Message Is Clear: Vacation Responsibly or Be Arrested," Miami Beach is doing everything they can to let tourists know of the they'll have to follow over the next seven weeks, otherwise "you might as well just stay home and save yourself the court costs and damage to your reputation."

Some of the things that can get you handcuffed? Drinking alcohol in public, smoking weed, driving under the influence or driving a scooter on the sidewalk. And if you think you'll just have a good time relaxing on the beach....not so fast.

Prohibited on the beach:

  • Inflatable devices
  • Tents, tables and similar structures
  • Loud music
  • Coolers
  • Glass containers
  • Styrofoam and plastic straws

Plus, we're still dealing with a pandemic, so masks and social distancing are required kids.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out for everyone. For more details on the Miami Beach Spring Break Rules visit mbspringbreak.com.
