The Great White Shark - My Adventure With OCEARCH

The Great White Shark…ever since Jaws, just the mere mention of them causes people to panic, but and I know there are some of you who will think this is crazy, without them, the worlds main food source, fish…would be in peril. A healthy shark population keeps the ocean in balance. If it wasn’t for the sharks, who eat the squid, the squid would eat all the fish, and we wouldn’t have grouper sandwiches.

That’s just a basic bare bones analysis of what could happen, but there’s a lot more research to be done, and that’s where the team of adventurous scientists from Ocearch come into play.

I’ve been friends with Chris Fischer since we met years ago while he was hosting a TV show called Offshore Adventures and he ended up as a guest on my show.

Years later he started Ocearch which has become his life’s work. They catch, tag and release Great Whites gathering vital information about the species and since the team was in New Hampshire, and I am Right up the road in Maine..I figured, “hell yes!”

We were met at the dock by their tender with a few other guests, and whisked 8 miles offshore to the Mother Ship, which is a 120 ft Bering Sea Crab boat as used on Deadliest catch.

The ship was full of marine biologists, scientists and even a veterinarian from Sea World

We didn’t get lucky and land a shark, but we had a great day on the water, and got to experience something amazing at the same time.
