Pictured above is the Becktold Charter with two beautiful Wahoo that they caught earlier this week aboard the “Lisa B“ out off Hillsboro inlet. In addition to wahoo the blackfin tuna bite is getting better as several tuna over 25 pounds were caught this week. We will only see an increase in quality meat fishing over the next several weeks. The best of the bite was in 250 feet of water trolling planers with bonito strips.
Further offshore the swordfish bite was red hot this week with several fish over 300 pounds.
The bite was on the deeper side out in around 1800 Feet of water. There was one giant bluefin tuna caught this week as well that weighed around 600 pounds. It is not legal right now to keep a bluefin tuna so the fish was released unharmed.
Near shore the tarpon bite has been ridiculous. Captain Russell Kleppinger out of Miami has put up double digits the whole week on half day trips. When the sea conditions are a little choppy Russell is the perfect charter to get your fix.
There are lots of regulations that are constantly changing regarding bag limits and size limits. Give us a call at the Tackle store if you have any questions.
