Papa's Pilar Rum Fishing Report (04/08/22)

Swordfish In Session!

Pictured above is the Steve Carlton crew charter with a beautiful swordfish we caught Wednesday aboard the “Lisa B“ out of Hillsboro inlet. This was the first broadbill for three of the charter members. We made three drops had three bites and caught two swordfish. We released a smaller fish as we had plenty of groceries after the first fish.

We were out yesterday again and the conditions completely changed. You could feel the approaching front and the swordfish bite shut down just that quick. We fished for six hours and had no bites. We will see the swordfishing improve again when the weather stabilizes here in a few days.

Farther inshore the wahoo and tuna bite is still consistent within a few mahi mixed in. Saturday looks to be a bit rough as of now so if you’re going to venture out this weekend make sure to look at the marine forecast. We also have a batch of green water that’s been lingering around the Hillsboro inlet and Boca Inlet area. If you’re going to spend some time fishing this week and you may want to run north or south a few miles to find some cleaner water.

Good luck!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Good sailfish bite in the last few days anywhere from 4-10 bites for most of the boats current has been moving Good with blue water, some Mahi up to 20lbs and black fin tuna all on live baits in 120-300 ft and if you can fish late in the day till dark that is when the tuna are going to bite the best.
