Swordfish Bite is Heating Up!
Pictured above left to write is James Guy and Pande J holding a nice swordfish caught earlier this week. The winds finally subsided giving everybody a chance to get out on the ocean! We made two swordfish drops and caught two swordfish 150 and 175 pounds aboard the “Lisa B”. The best of the bite was shallow in 1600 feet of water and the bait we used was the bonito belly. With the moon in the sky for the next few days we should see some great fishing. The moon plays a huge roll in the sword bite game.
Farther inshore fishing has been off the chart starting Wednesday. A mixed bag of wahoo, blackfin tuna and mahi was the catch for most all boats fishing this week. Some boats trolled while others fished with kites. Either way now is a great time to catch some quality fish. The mahi are still on the larger side up to 15 pounds while the wahoo seemed on the smaller side this week. The blackfin tuna afternoon bite is still on and the fish are getting a bit bigger.
The weather fronts should start to subside a bit as we transition towards summer so we should see more favorable sea conditions.
